Teaching toothbrush technique

Louisville Water educators teamed up with the Louisville Free Public Library to promote Children’s Dental Health Month and increase children’s’ “Smile Power” through activities designed to promote good tooth health.

During story hour at select locations, activities to promote brushing and flossing, along with healthy eating and drinking tips, have offered visitors an eye-opening experience as they see how sugar adds up in a daily diet. A special story focusing on teeth also is part of the fun.

To promote this dental health message, Louisville Water’s education program has also partnered with Smile Kentucky!, an initiative that provides education resources and free dental screenings in the Louisville area.

Louisville Water educators have already visited the Highlands-Shelby Park, St. Matthews and Southwest Regional Library branches. They also will visit the following library locations:

Shawnee: Feb. 21 at 10:30 a.m.
Middletown: Feb. 28 at 11 a.m.

Healthy smile tips also are available on the recently revamped website SmileKentucky.com(link is external).
