Engineers earn state honors

Louisville Water’s engineers are at the top of their field. Two of them received awards at the recent Kentucky Section Annual Meeting of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE):

  • Jordan Basham, Manager of Infrastructure Planning, received the Distinguished Young Engineer Award.
  • Denise Aaron, Project Engineer, received the Distinguished Engineer in the Public Sector Award.

“It is such an honor to be recognized as ASCE’s Distinguished Young Engineer,” Basham said, “and the work I do at Louisville Water has allowed me to grow and give back to the profession in ways I couldn’t have dreamed of at the start of my career. I am thankful every day for the opportunity to plan the future of water in my community.”

Aaron said she is “grateful for the opportunity that working in the public sector for Louisville Water has given me to help provide a better quality of life to customers through extending and replacing water mains and eliminating lead services.”

Louisville Water Project Engineer Eric Walls was installed as the Kentucky Section President during the meeting. Manager of Engineering Distribution Extensions Shanaka Winters was installed as the Kentucky Section vice-president.

The meeting also included a presentation from Louisville Water Executive Vice President Dave Vogel and Communications and Marketing Manager Erika Brown about Louisville Water’s advanced metering project.
