Meet Louisville Water’s newest ambassador

Louisville Water Tower Park had a special guest this past weekend at its monthly open day. Visitors met our newest ambassador – 21-year-old Emily Moyers. Emily is part of Dreams With Wings, a local organization that helps children and adults with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities recognize their strengths, contribute to their community, and pursue their dreams.

Emily loves to drink Louisville Pure Tap™ and wants everyone to know that our city has the best tasting tap water.

Emily, who has Down Syndrome, was impressed when she took a tour of Louisville Water Tower Park recently, and we were honored to have her help us out this weekend for our open day.

She gave out Louisville Water swag to visitors who stopped by for a tour. She also wrote handwritten messages to visitors reminding them to turn off the water when brushing their teeth.

Heather Sauer is Emily’s Community Living Support Professional at Dreams With Wings, and she helps Emily find opportunities to achieve her goals of living an enriched life. Emily has been with Dreams With Wings since June 2015 when she joined us as an Achieving Dreams summer camper. Sauer says that Emily’s dream is to work for Louisville Water.

“Together we decide how she can give back through volunteering, how she can develop a healthy lifestyle through exercise and good nutrition, and ways to spend time in the community where she can be independent,” explained Sauer, who accompanied Emily on Sunday. “Seeing Emily’s aspirations turn into reality makes working with her the highlight of my week!”

Louisville Water hosts open days once a month for visitors to learn about our history and operations. Visitors will see pieces o

f water mains more than 150 years old, a cross-section of a fire hydrant and a 100-foot-tall steam pump, plus much more.

Our next open day is Sun., Dec. 12 from 12 to 5 p.m. Can’t make it in December? Visit our website or follow us on social to find out about our upcoming monthly dates. You can also schedule a tour for your group by calling (502) 897-1481 or visiting our website.
