Engineering fun at the Science Center

Louisville Water was part of the Kentucky Science Center's Maker Days earlier this month. The event gave youngsters the chance to interact with businesses, the University of Louisville Robotics Team, and other organizations showcasing the science-related work they do and providing hands-on science and engineering fun.

Louisville Water demonstrated how we use force and motion to move water through pipes. Children could build their own pipes with small plastic tubes and figure out how to push, pull, or use gravity to move a small blue bead from a treatment plant to a home. The kids were given such items as rubber bands, balloons, straws, and strings to move the bead.

For parents, Louisville Water provided information on how to check for leaks in home plumbing, and everyone got to take home a Louisville Pure Tap™ bottle.
