Celebrating Water on Earth Day!

Dogs at Floyds Fork

At Louisville Water, we believe quality water equals quality life. We know water is a vital resource and Earth Day is a great time to encourage the community to help us protect our water source, the Ohio River, and the rest of the planet.

We kicked off the celebrations with Earth Day Fest at The Parklands of Floyds Fork on April 19. We served up Louisville Pure Tap® in compostable cups to hundreds of guests, including our four-legged friends. We also handed out reusable Pure Tap bottles to make it easy for them to fill up with Pure Tap on the go.

Children enjoyed Tapper tattoos, Tapper plushies, and copies of Tapper’s Big Adventure: Where’s the Water?, a children’s book which explores all the ways we use and need water every day.

The fun continued the next day at Bernheim Forest’s RESTORE- Healthy Planet, Healthy You event. Louisville Water provided ice-cold water in addition to watering cans. We shared an overview of how riverbank filtration helps us deliver high-quality, clean water and children colored their own rock to take home.

Our cup is overflowing with activities. Tapper joined us on this Earth Day at Waterfront Botanical Gardens! It only makes sense to give away more watering cans surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants. We also offered reusable Pure Tap bottles. Louisville Water has dozens of bottle-fill stations located at partner sites across the city, including Louisville Slugger Field, Lynn Family Stadium, KFC Yum! Center, UofL’s campus, the Louisville Zoo, and the Kentucky Science Center. YOU have helped us save 6.2 million plastic bottles from going to the landfill. That’s amazing!

People at the zooBe sure to pack your refillable bottle if you join us for the first Waterfront Wednesday of the season on April 24 near the Big Four Bridge.
