The Board of Water Works (BOWW) swore in Paul Esselman at its meeting last Tuesday.
BOWW is the seven-member, bi-partisan governing body for Louisville Water. Louisville’s mayor serves ex-officio and appoints the remaining six members for staggered four-year terms.
Esselman is the Speed Art Museum’s Chief Operating Officer. He grew up in Louisville and is a graduate of Bellarmine University.
A CPA, he spent most of his career at Humana. For the last 20 years, he helped build three internal startups at the company, most recently a wellness division that serves 5 million members. He has a successful track record in building strong operating plans and teams.
Esselman and his wife have raised four children, and he has served as the long-time president of both the operating and fundraising boards of Down Syndrome of Louisville.
